Hello! I am a Diversity Consultant with a digital background and an enthusiasm for neuropsychology and behavioural science.
What’s most rewarding about your role?
Definitely making a difference – nudging us all forwards into spaces where we can bring the best versions of ourselves! Making EDI (equality, diversity and inclusion) actionable – and beneficial.
Why should people listen to you?
I make EDI measurable and actionable and have done this in large corporate and non-profit environments. Using data and science we together build our understanding of the specific issues in your organisation – and then develop tailored and targeted interventions. There is no guesswork here. This is the science of inclusion. And from the outset I share your journey to build EDI into your organisation – bringing compassion and where no judgements are made.
What are your clients’ biggest headaches? (before you come along!)
Not having a systematic and measurable approach to EDI. There is no common standard in the UK (or elsewhere) and no way of measuring progress and realising the many benefits. And for that reason, I focus on data and an evidence-based approach – the science of inclusion.
And at a deeper level, there can be fear around EDI – it can be an emotive subject and there can be shame or guilt in discussing it or exploring it in the workplace. Or fear of litigation or impact on brand and business relationships. And that is OK – that is a normal and natural response. But it cannot hold us back from doing something about it. And that is why I deliberately create safe conversations and bring compassion to the journey. I share in all this with you.
What’s your personal superpower?
Courage-building. Joy-bringing. Change-making.
What’s one topic you could bond with any stranger over?
Ha ha! Take That circa. 1990-1996 if I had to pick a Mastermind specialist subject. Or the power ballads of the 80s. Nothing too niche.
‘‘I am delighted to be working with Jo Miller and to be promoting some of the great work that she does in helping organisations with their D&I strategy. Not only does Jo share the same values as the team here at Inclusive, but she’s also incredibly skilled in applying data, behavioural and neuroscience to help organisations identify trends and solutions that will drive D&I strategy and help to attract and retain talent.”
