I graduated from The University of Sheffield with a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. I had always wanted to have a job that utilises my research, writing, and critical thinking skills, but also allows me to meet new people and learn about others, so it’s no surprise that I’ve ended up in recruitment!
I started on a short placement here and quickly bonded with everyone in the office, so much so that I was able to continue permanently, initially in a Search & Comms role and have now transitioned into a Recruitment Consultant role! Inclusive is known for its positive working culture so it’s a real privilege to be able to start my career here and develop alongside this great team.
What strategies have you found effective in sourcing top talent, and how will you carry those into a recruitment role?
I’ve learned over the past year that building strong, long-lasting relationships is key in recruitment. The market is constantly evolving, but there will always be top talent out there searching for that dream role, and really working to continue those relationships and deliver a personalised service means you will have a strong candidate base that continues to develop alongside the market.
What excites you most about transitioning from sourcing to recruitment?
Getting out and meeting people! I’m a very big people person, and I’m hugely excited to start building relationships with new people through face-to face interaction and really getting to know what they’re looking for in their career.
What’s your favourite quote or mantra that inspires you in tough times?
“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
What steps do you take to create and maintain strong relationships with clients and candidates?
Open and clear communication is the main thing for me. It’s so important to be transparent with the people you are working with, whether they’re clients or candidates. Being upfront lets people know they can trust you and that you truly care about providing them with the best service possible, it also lets you work with these people to overcome any roadblocks you may come across and identify the absolute best way forwards.
If you could have a conversation with any historical figure, who would it be, and why?
If I could speak with any historical figure it would be Princess Diana, she was a fantastic woman and it would be amazing to see what she was like in person and hear her share her opinions.
There aren’t many people who are capable of turning a two-week work placement into a permanent job, but Nathan’s work ethic and enthusiasm immediately shone through and all of the team were singing his praises in no time.
I’m thrilled that Nathan is joining us permanently; his commitment and energy are not only noticeable through his academic achievements and his pursuit of professional development, but also his genuine passion for providing clear communication and an unparalleled service. I’m delighted that Nathan is embarking on his career with Inclusive Consulting and am confident that he will continue to have a hugely positive impact on our culture.
