The Inclusive family keeps growing and we’re so pleased to be welcoming Victoria Brown, who will be joining as a Consulting Partner.
Working with businesses on Finance and Strategy, Vickie will also be providing mentoring and assisting with our female mentoring network.
We asked Vickie few questions to get to know her better…
What’s your personal “why” behind what you do?
I love to “fix” things, and am a true problem solver, and am never happier than when I’m working with a team to resolve an issue that’s been plaguing them.
What role has mentoring played in your career?
I have been fortunate to have had some amazing mentors over the years, (and still do) who have both encouraged and challenged me, it’s important to remember that mentoring isn’t age specific, I can learn as much from the younger generation as I do from my peers.
What’s a common misconception people have about what you do?
That it’s “bean-counting” and boring. Finance isn’t about holding a business back, or reining it in, it’s about using information to drive a business forward, ensuring that the funds are available to achieve it’s strategic aims.
What has been a career-defining moment?
When I found I had placed in the top 3 in the world for the Chartered Director qualification. My colleagues had really encouraged and supported me on the journey when I thought I was too old to go back to studying, I’m now a huge advocate of life-long learning.
What’s your “superpower”?
My tenacity – I never give up.
What’s one topic you can bond with anyone over?
Animal welfare, I have 6 ex-racing greyhounds and 5 ex-commercial hens, if you love animals, we’re friends for life!
Our founder Emma Conroy says, “I have worked with Vickie as a client for several years and I have always been inspired by her approach and strategic thinking.
